My family!!!

What a week.  Holy mackerel.  Ok, well, I love you guys!  Lots!  I have some fat fat news!  Emergency transfers!  So an hermana that should have been finishing her training the same time as us se fue.... entonces.... I will be moved to San Martin in Chimaltenango.  On Saturday or Monday... Hopefully Saturday so I can hurry and meet the members on Sunday.  But thats not the point.  But there you have it!  Imma bounce.  I love Parramos, but I fear I got too comfortable.  Not comfortable, I didnt get lazy, dont worry about that.  I just started figuring things out!  And we cant learn if we are comfortable.  So Im excited to see what I´m going to learn.

I did bring my camera this week!  So thats a plus!  You may have more pictures. :)

Hermana Merrell says she loves you.  And wants to meet you... really badly....

So a man when we were teaching asked me if there are snacks at church!  I think he only wanted to come if there were snacks.. sadly, no.  No snacks.  But that is something we might want to suggest.

We had a competition as a mission to contact the most people possible with a member present and talking.  And well, our zone didnt win.  Not even close, but we talked to SO MANY PEOPLE!!  So it was still awesome!  And in our little companionship we had 73 contacts with members.  So we were actually very proud.

Oh yeah, and who´s super rude?  This missionary!  Because HAPPY BIRTHDAY NATE!!  Sorry I didnt say anything last week!  I didnt forget you..or your birthday... I just forgot to say something.

We are loving it here, we have SO many people on the verge of baptism.  They just need permission, or a wedding, or sometimes both... But SO CLOSE!!  Margarita has a brother that we have been teaching and he´s been coming to church! So They can both be baptized on the same day!  As soon as they have permission and she is married.  Oh!  And I wrote her whole story in a letter yesterday... But I haven´t sent it yet.  Maybe next week.

I am super happy about those DearElders you wrote, mom!  We got them when we had interviews with President.  Oh yeah!  We had interviews with President!  It was so good!  He has a rule that all the sisters have to cry in his interviews.... and Hna Turley said she would buy us ice cream if we didnt cry... yep... didnt win ice cream.  I wasnt even sitting and I started crying.  Que the heck?!  I really did learn a lot though.  Something cool that I have been hearing a lot and from my Patriarchal Blessing talks about choosing to be happy in whatever situation.  Its so true though.  Happiness is not our surroundings.  Sometimes we find ourselves thinking we can be happy and relax just as soon as something else happens.  But its not true!  there will always be something in the way of that happiness.  We have to choose right now to be happy.  And then we have to do it!  And then life is way more fun!

Oh, Uncle Ken!  I loved your DearElder!  Thank you!  You have a really awesome testimony of the Restoration and also you were pretty funny.  :)

Ok, that is all for now... but 2 ne 25 is a good chapter to read... also Moroni 7:33-45 (recipe for miracles)

Ok, I will read your emails and send pictures.  :)  Love you!  Be safe and Happy!  And have fun at school!

Love, Hermana Evans

My family!!

I love you!  How was the epic relay?  I prayed for you!  I hope everyone did well.  And I hope the drivers didnt pass out.  That could've been pretty ugly! ;)

Ok, my list.

So I read a talk by a mission president called the Fourth Missionary.  I would totally recommend it.  But it talks about what you have to do to be a consecrated missionary!  and one of the things was leave all things from home on the shelf.  Box em up and leave em.  Soooooooooo...... I have decided I won't write letters to anyone anymore.  None.  Not even you guys, super sorry.
.....
...
...................

APRIL FOOLS!!!  I will still write you guys.  :)  But for about 3 minutes after I read it I almost considered not writing anyone anymore.  My companions helped me get my life back on track and said its good to write your family.  So I will.  :)

Oh!  But we found Waldo!  One of him, anyway... in a lesson!  Hna Turley found one on my skirt!  She killed it.  But those little buggers, they bite my hands!  The bony parts!  And my ear!  Don't they know their are jucier parts of me?  like my forearm.  They can bite my forearm.

Oh mehlanta.  The bus system is so fun.  :)  Hermana Merrell and I got the opportunity to kind of be in a bus when it was going.  Such a rush.  Dont worry, Im being safe.  :)  But there was a man that was hanging out the side and his arm was in a window hanging on.  That was a little foolish of him.  Especially with all the room on the roof, he totally could have sat there.

Juan Jose!!  Have I told you about him? I sure hope so.  But anywho, Juan Jose.  We had a lesson with him in the house of a member and it was pretty stinkin awesome.  He wants to know!!  And he reads the things we leave with him!  And he comes to church on time!  Wowza!  amiright?!  he should be getting baptized on the 31 if he continues to not drink coffee.

Oh, you guys can send me scriptures too!  :)  I want to know what things you guys are learning also! :)

Oh heck.  There are lots of short, but large men here.  And one of them that is in the ward was playing with his grandson during Sacrament Meeting and you would think a big ole man would be an emotional rock!  But no!  He had a pen for a mustache!  And the little kid loved it!  How presh!

So I left my camera home.. whoops!  Next week I'll send more pictures.

OH!!  We contacted a congregation of catholics!  They were walking down the street and their pastor people were in front, so Hna Turley took them, Hna Merrell and I took the rest.  Best Picture opportunity ever.  But we didnt get a picture.. but we should have... they all said no to us and insisted that they are very catholic, but it was still pretty funny.

Yesterday a clown man got on a bus and he was being creepy like a clown should be, but then he shoved 2 screws in his nostrils!  Not cool Robert Frost!  Super gross. But I think he lived, I dont know, I stopped watching as soon as he shoved the first one in his face.

Ok, your scriptures......

Alma 32
the Fourth Missionary (I dont remember the guys name... just google it...)

I love you guys!  I love it here, I love it all, things are great!

Be happy and safe and I love you!

Adios! I will read you emails now. :)

Family!!! I LOVE YOU!!

Ok, my list this week is iddy bitty... so sorry... But not.. what?  Who said that?!

!!  Holy mackerel!  What would have happened if I hadn't come on this mission?!!!  That thought scares me to death.  TO DEATH.

A vaya!  We had cambios!  (changes) and get this!  Hermana Santana se fue.  But we got Hermana Turley!  Honestly, I was so so so scared that our next trainer wouldn't be as good as Hna Santana.  So worried.  But then, we got Hna Turley!!!  and she is from Utah, and she is the best.  I love her.  she has 9 months in the mission and she has changed my life!  Forever!!  Ah heck, I don't know how I keep getting so blessed with these companions.  I really don't.  Hna Merrell is so great too.  They both are so AWESOME!!

Waldo is still one of my best friends, he really never leaves me.  Meh, it's not so bad.  I can think of WAY worse friends to have.  WAY WORSE.

We got hair trims yesterday because get this!  Hna Turley trims hair!!!  How fun?!  And free!  So i'm being cared for.  Dont you worry.

We had a family night with the bishops family last night and his little daughter was in charge.  It is so cute how the Spirit affects children.  she was talking about missionary work and when it looked like she was about to tear up just a bit, she just broke down in sobs and screams.  Too cute!  Her little body couldn't handle it!  And then she was fine, but really, it was so much cuter than I just made it sound.  So much cuter.

I have a quest for you.  EACH OF YOU.  Mom, Dad, Nate, Hunter, Michael, Isaac, Paige, Ian, Raylee (if she's talking yet).  When did you know the Book of Mormon was true?  I want to hear your experiences.  :)  I realized (Hna Turley is awesome) that as members of the church, we can still ask Heavenly Father if this is true!  We aren't in a prison!  Who knew?!  So That is what I want.  A story from each of you.  :)

Our investigaters are doing awesome.  They really are.  This area is so blessed.  We are working with a family and if all goes well, they can get married on Friday or Saturday and Baptized on Sunday.  The mom and the kids are the only ones not baptized.  Family Choc.  They are so ready.  SO READY!!  Miracles, guys. The kids are so cute.  I love it.

We have another family, Margarita and Rudy, don't know if you remember them... but we are trying to get them married too and possibly baptized this weekend too.  Heavenly Father really guides us to the people that are ready.

Speaking of being ready, another word we use is "chosen".  This is a toughy.  Because why aren't all the people in the world "chosen"?  Everyone is a child of God, why aren't they all chosen?!!  Well, after a lot of thought, and councel with Heavenly Father, we figured it out.  It all depends on the person.  Simple as that.  God wants to choose us.  He wants us to come back to Him, but it's us that put up the barrior.  We want what we want, not what God wants.  Its the natural man.  But as soon as we start asking ourselves and deep in our hearts want to know, that is when we are chosen.  I think it really just takes a lot of humility!  This message and the Holy Ghost cant penetrate a heart hardned by pride.

Ok, thats all I have right now... I will try to send pictures again! :)  LOVE YOU!

Be happy and safe and have fun.  :)

Love, Hermana Evans

Hermana Evans and Hermana Merrell

August 6, 2013

Family!

I love you!

And also we had two more baptisms!  BAH!!!  Ok, it was so awesome.  So Lesly (wife of last weeks baptism) got baptized and Marlon (her husband) baptized her!  How cool is that?!  It was so special.  and she is so tiny that her little foot kept popping up so she had to be baptized 3 times.  But it all turned out ok.  Marlon was SO nervous too!  Aw it was cute.

And then we also had Eveline get baptized!  Such an awesome woman.  Her husband is a member, but he was less active.  We had given her so many different dates for her baptism and she just kept turning them down.  Then finally we had a family night at the house of the pres. of relief society and we challenged her again.  That was on friday night, and she said yes and was baptized on Sunday!  SO AWESOME!!!

I have pictures, I´ll send those later.

We got the opportunity to watch a girl become a nun the other day.  Actually 2... it was so weird.  We saw this massive group of people all standing around a van and 2 nuns hopped in.  People were taking pictures, there were men in suits, Hermana Merrell asked if Mother Teresa was in town, turns out she´s actually been dead for a while (who knew?!)  and then the van took those two girls away!  What?!  Thats the worst!  I dont think they come back!

Ok, so the mission is changing me, just btdubs.  I dont even care what I eat!  How did that happen?  I eat peppers and all the weird veggies now that I would normally leave for the garbage.  Most of the time I have no idea what I´m eating... seriously.. but as long as I dont ask, I am still able to eat it.  Oh, and I gave a bit of marital advice using doctrine!  Didn´t think I would be doing that, but whadda ya know?  It happened.

The picture sitch:  a)sorry I forgot to say something about this.. I keep forgetting to.  B) I think I will just email pics occasionaly and keep the memory cards with me.  I think its the safest bet.  Plus I dont think I´ll be taking 7000 pictures on my mission.  And then you can all see the fulness of my picture library in 18 months.  :)

Oh, start thinking about what things you want from Guatemala.  I know I have pretty much all of my mission left, but if I can just get the things as I go I wont be so stressed at the end.  :)

Ok... time for the bad news... ish... We have been here for one change now.  that means another change is coming... tomorrow.. and yesterday we got a call... and Hna Santana is going.... so I´ll be recieving a new trainer... we´re not thrilled... in fact we´re pretty bummed.  Hna Santana is the best trainer in the world.  So hopefully we continue to grow with our next trainer like we have with Hna Santana.

Oh, and here is a scripture for you:  Alma 36:12-21

:)  ok, I love love love you!  All of you!

Love, Hermana Evans
