$10 Gallon of Milk

"You know, I ran out of cookies....", he says, hinting that I should get him some cookies. If nothing else, I know how to pick up a hint when I see one. I get dropped off at the door of the grocery store, freeze to death while making my way to the door, and barely survive as I enter the building. Luckily, it's warm in there.

My first thought was, "just grab the milk and get the heck out of here." But then I remembered reading about a chocolate treat called turtles or something like that with caramel, some kind of nut, and chocolate on them. So I couldn't just leave without putting an honest effort into looking for whatever those are. Bad news though, they were no where to be found.

Next I find my way to the cookie isle. Why, you ask? When I was just coming for milk anyway? Because I'm a great wife, that's why! 😉 I find the cookies he likes, something about peanut butter and fudge. And then I see the Milano cookies, and is it even Christmas without those? I think not! So I had to get the mint ones. "That should do it for the cookies", I think, as I see the coconutty ones with caramel and chocolate out of the corner of my eye. Boom, a must have. Non-negotiable. If you're keeping track, that's three containers of cookies, and there are only two of us at our house.

I finally make my way to the back of the store, and I'm just now realizing why grocery stores put milk at the very back of the store...so you have to walk past every delicious item to get to it. Grab my milk, and try to get out of there without running into anyone I may know.

Luckily the line for the check out is short, but there's an older, chatty looking gentlemen that gets in line behind me. "Hmph! Milk and cookies!" I was right, he is chatty. "Yeah, gotta keep the husband happy, ya know?"

I see an open register and immediately leave the older man by himself, should have said bye, but here we are, so oh well. I ring everything up at the self checkout. Ten bucks. My total was ten bucks! For a gallon of milk! (And 3 packages of cookies, but who's counting).

And that's how you spend $10 on a gallon of milk.
